Hyderabad: With the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad granting an interim stay on land acquisition by the State under GO 123, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to go to New Delhi and lobby for getting Presidential assent for the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Telangana Amendment) Bill, 2016.

A senior official of the State Irrigation Department told The Hans India that the Chief Minister had sent a detailed status report to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the hurdles the State was facing with regard to the land it had acquired under GO 123 and the Central government’s Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013.

KCR, according to sources, gave central officials project- wise details and the requirements of land for completion of the works. He also brought to the notice of the Centre the delay in the execution of works, increase in the costs of the projects, and the burden on the State exchequer.

Sources said that KCR was planning to go to New Delhi during the third week of January and apprise the Centre of the grave situation with regard to irrigation projects.

He would personally meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, seeking their immediate help to get the Presidential nod for the State act by the end of this month.

The Chief Minister would explain how the State government had given priority to irrigation projects and would urge the Centre to see that the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Telangana Amendment) Bill, 2016 gets the President’s nod.
