Prison dept sends proposal for gallows
The Department of Prisons has sent a proposal to the government to set up gallows, a structure of two uprights and a crosspiece for hanging of criminals at the two new prisons being constructed in Hyderabad and Warangal.
Hyderabad: The Department of Prisons has sent a proposal to the government to set up gallows, a structure of two uprights and a crosspiece for hanging of criminals at the two new prisons being constructed in Hyderabad and Warangal.
Officials of the prison have sent the proposal three months ago since the facility was not available in any prison in Telangana. The facility was available only at the Central Prison in Rajahmundry in the united Andhra Pradesh.
Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services V K Singh confirmed that a proposal had been sent to the government to this effect. Asked about how the department would execute the death punishment awarded to the five terrorists in the Dilsukhnagar twin bomb blasts, he said there was lot of time before the convicts actually go for execution.
