Hyderabad: There appears to be no end to the woes of app-based cab users in the city. The cab drivers have decided to continue with their strike as the talks between them and managements of Ola and Uber failed to reach a conclusion.
According to the Joint Transport Commissioners B Venkateshwarlu and T Raghunath, they had held a meeting with the representatives of Uber and Ola in which the representatives of the drivers also participated.
The management representatives said that they would look into the demands of the drivers and wanted them to immediately end the strike.
However, the drivers said they would not end the strike until some clear announcement in regard to the issues they had raised was made. In view of this, the officials of Transport Department decided to hold another round of meeting on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the Telangana Drivers’ and Four Wheelers’ Association members led by its president Md Salauddin met the Transport Minister and sought his intervention to resolve the issue. He said the drivers were feeling cheated with the tactics of the Ola and Uber managements.
He said earlier they were offered good returns but now they were unable to make sufficient money to repay the EMIs of the vehicles they had purchased.
The cab drivers have been on strike from the midnight of December 31. They are demanding the managements to stop adding cabs to their fleets, removing of sharing and peak hour system, providing security to the drivers, restoring commission of 10 per cent, fixing clear working hours, cancellation of share taxi system and removal of the bouncers employed by the company managements.
