Khuntia and Raju, while addressing the party activists, criticised the Modi government for inflicting pain on common people by demonetisation. They said several persons had died while standing in the queue for exchange of junked notes with the new ones.

They said the Prime Minister and Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao were acting like dictators. They turned a blind to the sufferings of the people.

Modi pushed poor and middle class people into quicksand with his unilateral midnight decision, they said. They highlighted the ‘importance’ of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi leadership. They demanded that Modi reveal the amount of black money seized and names of those who hoarded the money.

Uttam Kumar Reddy quoted economists as terming the demonetisation as wrong and that it would hamper the development activities.

He demanded that 20 per cent additional minimum support price to farm produce during rabi season be announced. He also urged the State government to provide 50 per cent sales tax exemption and ensure 100 working days for MNREGS workers.

Uttam Kumar Reddy criticised KCR for showing discriminatory attitude towards students, BCs, SCs and STs by not releasing funds for fee reimbursement scheme.

The TRS government was grabbing the land from farmers in the name of development, he added. He was confident of the Congress party coming to power in 2019 elections by securing minimum 80 seats out of
total 119.

Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy,TPCC Vice President Mallu Ravi, DCC president Budida Bixmaiah, party leader Vedas Venkaiah, Addanki Dayakar , Ramreddy Sarvotham reddy ,local leaders and cadre across the district participated.

Similar dharnas were held by the Congress party across the State in protest against the inconvenience caused to the common man due to demonetisation.
