Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu studied the development plan of western region of Sri Lanka as majority of the development programmes in the region reflect the development works in Amaravati capital region.

The Chief Minister visited Colombo following invitation from Sri Lankan government to participate in the birthday celebrations of President Mytripala Sirisena.

He addressed a meeting organised on the occasion on poverty alleviation. Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Ch Ayyannapatrudu and officials accompanied the CM.

The Sri Lankan government expressed interest to participate in the development of Amaravati region.

Sri Lanka Megapolis western region development Minister Patali Champika Ranavaka explained the development of western region comprising six per cent of total land where 28 per cent people are living.

The Minister said that the Sri Lankan government was determined to develop picturesque western region as smart city. The officials said they adopted e-administration, cashless transactions and real time administration.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that he was planning to develop the Amaravati capital as world class capital. He said that the government would study the master plan designed for development of western region of Sri Lanka.
