He alleged that there was a hidden agenda behind the government’s offer to hand over the factory to farmers’ cooperative society. It wants to give Rs 300 crore to a private person G Ranga Raju who took over the factory a few years ago. The farmers and the Joint Action Committee should be aware of this fact.

Though Ranga Raju had closed the factory arbitrarily, no action had been taken against him by the government, he said. Revanth Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had been favoring Andhra contractors in all works and had given an order sanctioning Rs 12,000 crore to the works to which already bills were paid.

He said now KVP Ramachandra Rao had become his new friend while Kodandaram had been left out, he said.He alleged that the Chief Minister appointed Andhra persons as chiefs of Metro Rail and ITIR corridor. Congress leader M Kodanda Reddy said any government should give first priority to agriculture. He demanded that the government takeover the sugar factory. Sugarcane would provide a lot of revenue with byproducts and farmers of the State were feeling that they were let down by the government.

Social activist Justice Chandra Kumar said the Chief Minister should check his election manifesto. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had promised to reopen NSF and Sirpur Kagaznagar factories but so far the government had failed to keep up its promises. It should ponder why the farmers of Telangana were committing suicides, he said.

CPI state secretary Ch Venkat Reddy said the JAC should fight boldly against the closure of the factory. Closing NSF was a shame on the part of the government, Venkat Reddy added. The roundtable was chaired by TDP leader Amarnath and was addressed by CPM leader Sagar, BJP leader Sugunakar Rao, CPI leader Padma, a farmer Vasanth who walked all the way from Zahirabad to Delhi on cane farmers issues and farmers and workers from Karimnagar, Medak and Nizamabad districts.
