KCR urges PGCIL to expedite works
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has urged officials of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to complete the work relating to laying of power lines to connect the southern states with the North East West Grid.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has urged officials of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to complete the work relating to laying of power lines to connect the southern states with the North East West Grid. If the connectivity is established between the Southern states and NEW Grid, it will be possible to coordinate the demand and supply of power all over the country, the Chief Minister said.
PGCIL chairman I.S. Jha, Southern Region ED Sekhar and Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao met the Chief Minister at Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday. In this context, the Chief Minister asked the officials concerned to complete the power lines between Wardha (Maharashtra) and Dichapally so as to get power supply from the Chhattisgarh State to Telangana State. To this, the PGCIL officials told the CM that they would be completing the line by this March.
If the 765 KV double Circuit line of 4,500 MW capacity is completed, Telangana State will able to get power supply from Chhattisgarh State, KCR said. He also wanted works on the Warangal-Varora (Maharashtra) power line also to be taken up immediately. If the two lines, Wardha-Dichpally and Warangal-Varora lines are completed, then power can be received and supplied between the Southern Grid and NEW Grid. As a result, there will be better coordination among various places in the country, the Chief Minister observed.
Meanwhile, the PGCIL has evinced interest to invest in the State’s transmission projects. The CM wanted officials from the State electricity department and PGCIL to hold talks in this regard. Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Principal Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary SP Singh, senior officials S Narsing Rao, Ramakrishna Rao, Shanthi Kumari and Smita Sabharwal and others were present at the meeting.
