​Hyderabad: Chief Secretary S P Singh on Tuesday asked the Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities to take steps to complete the works in most parts of the city by the end of this year.

The Chief Secretary conducted a Special Task Force (STF) meeting on the progress of the Hyderabad Metro Rail works on Tuesday.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wanted that most parts of the project be completed this year. He directed the Hyderabad and Rangareddy District Collectors and GHMC commissioner to expedite acquisition of remaining properties to bridge the gaps in the Metro corridors.

The Chief Secretary recalled that he was as one of the officers who initiated the Hyderabad Metro Rail project and was also founder chairman of HMRL.

“The project is close to my heart and I will closely monitor its progress so that the city can reap its benefits early,” he said.

HMRL MD N V S Reddy made a detailed presentation on the progress of the works and informed that 61 km of foundations, 59 km of pillars and 50 km of viaduct were completed.

The MD informed that RoB works at Alugadda Bavi, Oliphenta and Malakpet were in full swing and those at Begumpet and Lakdikapul had also picked up speed.

During the review meeting, the Chief Secretary asked the Hyderabad Collector to complete acquisition of properties in Badichowdi, Sultan Bazar and Putlibowli areas in the next couple of months.

He instructed the GHMC commissioner to expedite acquisition of the remaining few affected properties in Krishna Nagar, Yusufguda and Jubilee Hills.

He also advised Hyderabad and Rangareddy Collectors and the GHMC Commissioner to focus on properties which were under litigation and resolve the litigation so that there are no bottlenecks left for completion of the Metro project.
