The child is currently undergoing treatment at Rainbow Hospital in Hyderabad. Four other cases of swine flu have also been reported in the city. Since August 2016, 116 swine flu cases have been registered in the state with six people losing their lives to the virus.

The Telangana health and family welfare department issued a swine flu bulletin on January 6 stating that nearly 2,717 samples of swine flu were tested and 107 were positive.

Advising the citizens to take precautions, the bulletin urged the public to take notice of symptoms such as high fever, cough, body pains and report to the hospitals.
