Work in perfect tandem: KTR to MAUD officials

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister K T Rama Rao on Thursday asked officials of all the wings from the department to work in coordination and share the best practices.

The MAUD Minister chaired a review meeting of the department along with CDMA, GHMC, HMDA, Metro Rail and Water Works at the HMWS&SB office here on Thursday. The Minister said that the different wings of MAUD should make sure that they work in coordination and share the best practices among themselves.

The Minister wanted the officials to make all the civic bodies open defecation free (ODF) and wanted them to take this initiative on a mission mode by taking up awareness programs. He wanted the officials to reach the target of making the civic bodies open defecation free by the month of May.

He asked the officials to concentrate more on the sanitation in cities and municipalities. Auto trolleys would be given to the Municipal Corporations for clearing garbage. KTR asked the municipal officials to function on the lines of GHMC by taking policy decisions and releasing GOs for their decisions. He wanted the officials to complete the fixation of LED lights in municipalities immediately.

He asked the officials to speed up the housing project works and take up construction of double bedroom houses at the places where the beneficiaries reside. He assured to help in getting the funds released for the white tapping road works from the government.

The minister asked the officials to strictly implement the Public Defacement Act by removing flexes, wall writings and wall posters. He asked the officials not to spare anyone who indulges in defacing the public properties.

Regarding the HMDA, minister asked the commissioner to take up works pertaining to the Musi River Front at Bapu Ghat, Kotwalguda and Eco Park by maintaining time limit. He wanted the officials to plan on a long term basis.
