Mahbubnagar: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Jupally Krishna Rao set the target of two years for the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA) and District Water Management Authority (DWMA) officials to make Telangana number one State in the country in the implementation of welfare schemes like Mahatma Ghandi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Haritha Haram and skill training to the unemployed youth in the State.

Taking part in a review programme at the Panchayat Raj Rural Development Training Centre in Rajendranagar on Friday, the Minister directed the officials of DRDA and DWMA to provide 100 days of work under MGNREGA to all job card holders by March 31 in the district.

The Minister also warned the officials of stern action if they failed to meet the target on time. “We will give priority in sanctioning CC roads to all villages that meet the MGNREGA targets. By March 31, the State government is planning to spend Rs 400-600 crore for the construction of CC roads in the district,” informed the Minister.

The Minister also directed the officials that during the laying of CC roads, the pipelines of Mission Bhagiratha should also be laid at every 50 meters stretch in the villages so that they could avoid digging of roads at the later stage for laying water pipelines. Krishna Rao also reviewed with the officials the issue of protection of plants under Haritha Haram programme and promised to release the plant protection funds soon.
