Hanamkonda: The university employees, under the banner of All India University Employees Association (AIUEA), are gearing up for the nation-wide strike to be held on January 20 in support of many demands.

The association national vice-president Pulla Srinivas has called upon the university employees to participate in the strike and make it a grand success.

A preparatory meeting of the association members was held on the campus of Kakatiya University recently to discuss measures for the success of the strike.

Speaking on the occasion here on Sunday, Srinivas said thousands of employees have been working on contract, outsourcing, daily wage and time scale basis for long years expecting their services to be regularised.

The same was the case of thousands workers serving in government undertakings. Following which, Supreme Court has recently upheld the rule of equal work-equal pay and asked the concerned governments and establishments to ensure regularisation of services.

Responding to the Apex Courts’ directions, Punjab government initiated steps for regularisation of services while Delhi government has been working towards equal work- equal pay for contract and other employees, the association leader explained.

However, the Telangana government, which promised to regularise the services of contract employees, has failed to do during its two and half years rule.

At least now the State government should regularise those, who have been working on contract basis for the past 20 years, Srinivas demanded. The union leaders MC Ravi, Rajamouli, Bokka Mogilim Chiranjivi and others were present.
