New Delhi: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister of Telangana Jupally Krishna Rao on Monday urged the Centre to sanction additional six crore work days to the State under the MGNREGA Scheme, here. Jupally, who met the Union Minister for Rural Development, Narendra Singh Tomar, today said that Telangana was implementing the scheme in full and the already allotted 10 crore work days would not be sufficient to meet the demand.

He said that out of a component of Rs 786.66 crore only Rs 378 crore had been released by the Centre. He also sought for more urban clusters for the State. He urged the Union Minister to release remaining dues Rs 751 crore to the women groups and also extend financial help to 22 newly created districts recognising them as Backward Districts.

He said Telangana State Government had an ambitious plan to convert 2,817.50 kms of rural roads into BT roads and sought a release of Rs 1,745 crore for the same. TRS MP Jitender Reddy accompanied the Minister.
