Hyderabad: Hyderabad Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Akun Sabharwal on Tuesday launched an application called ‘RapidCop’ at Nalgonda.

RapidCop is an integrated mobile, tab and web application meant for effective prevention and control of crime. It is designed to improve the efficiency of day-to-day operations and accountability in the department. On the whole, it is a step towards ‘Smart policing’.

The mobile app is equipped with features that facilitate modern-day policing with GPS vehicle tracking system for real-time monitoring of movement of vehicles, incident tracking and reporting, Akun Sabharwal said.

RapidCop is a secure platform with a slew of features to help police control crime and keep the cities safer. Right from the control room, all the police patrol vehicles moving across the city can be tracked at the click of a button. Incident reporting can happen in real time with Dial 100 integration, the DIG said.

The app is equipped with the feature of ‘two-way communication’, where any incident in the city can be reported to the control room by just clicking and sending the picture, video or audio from the site of crime. The control room in turn would inform it to the respective police station.

One can share incident details using social platforms like WhatsApp. All the information can be shared with the concerned authorities and documented for effective handling and prevention of crime, thus improving efficiency in day-to-day operations, the DIG said.

Earlier, Akun Sabharwal inspected the Nalgonda district police office and its various units. He reviewed the parade and mob control drill

operation conducted by the district police officials. He also inaugurated the 28th National Road Safety Week programme in Nalgonda.

District Superintendent of Police N Prakash Reddy, Joint Collector Narayana Reddy and a host of other officials were present.
