The minister informed that the government would set up Road Safety clubs right from school level to Universities and ensure students take part in the road safety activities voluntarily. He said that government would take up awareness among the students as they are prone to getting involved in
accidents.

The minister further said that the government was taking steps under road safety as per the orders of Supreme Court which mandates the use of seat belts and helmets. In Adilabad district, strict rule of ‘No Helmet No Petrol’ is implemented and the initiative of ‘No Helmet No Office’ is also fetching good results,” said Mahender Reddy. He said that the government had identified the accidental prone areas on the National and State highways and was taking precautionary steps to prevent accidents.

The government is taking up awareness campaign with short films like ‘Mister Rido’ to curb the accident rate. He called upon the voluntary organisations to help the government in this regard. Mahender Reddy informed that the transport department was giving importance to e-governance.
