Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma on Wednesday appealed to the people not to fall prey to ‘get rich’ schemes. He cautioned the people that the schemes offering very high returns were unsustainable.

Speaking at a seminar conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Hyderabad branch, for the officers of Telangana State police, he stressed the need for the police officers to upgrade their skills and knowledge regarding economic crimes like.

Speaking on the occasion, DGM, SEBI, Bhavana Ravi Kumar said the SEBI had passed orders against unauthorized 100 CIS schemes.

Inspector General of Police, CID, Soumya Mishra, said that ground-level units of police, RBI and SEBI should work towards creating awareness among people about Ponzi schemes.

General Manager, RBI, Suvendu Pati, said that RBI would support all efforts to improve
investigative skills of police.

The seminar was aimed at capacity building of the police officials on the regulatory frame work of non-banking entities and various legal issues involved in implementation of protection of depositors.
