Describes Modi’s demonetisation move as ‘Tughlaq Act’

Warangal: Telangana Congress has got a riposte to TRS’s double bedroom housing scheme, which has off late become a panacea for the ruling party to impress public in the State.

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, while asserting that Congress would come to power in 2019 in the State, has announced that they would construct triple bedroom houses for the homeless poor soon after assuming power.

He also promised to clear all pending bills related to Indiramma houses sanctioned during the Congress regime before 2009, while asserting that there were no signs of TRS delivering the promise of double bed room houses to the poor.

Uttam Kumar Reddy addressed a public gathering at Islamia College grounds in Warangal on Thursday, where the Mahila Congress staged a protest against the Centre’s demonetisation act. The agitation has received overwhelming response with large numbers of public, mainly women taking part in the protest.

AICC leader KC Kuntia, State Mahila Congress president Nerella Sharada and district president P Padma Goud, senior leaders Sd Azmatullah, Rega Kantha Rao, Arepalli Mohan, Md. Shabbir Ali, P Balram Naik, Narsampet MLA D Madhava Reddy, district Congress president N Rajender Reddy and others took part in the protest.

The TPCC chief accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of avoiding questions on restoring normalcy 50 days after withdrawing higher denomination currency. The time asked by the PM has passed off yet the woes of the public were not eased.

When Congress and other opposition parties were asking Modi what happened to his assertions the PM was escaping from answering them. It proves the fact that Modi’ decision to withdraw Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency was totally mindless and a ‘Tuglaq’ act, he remarked.

Praising the AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his brave stand against demonetisation and describing the PM’s act as the biggest scam, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Prime Minister was lacking courage to face Rahul.

He also hit at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s blind support to the PM’s demonetisation move. He demanded the Centre to lift restrictions on cash withdrawals, pay interest of 18 per cent on bank balances, and lift services charges on cashless transactions and deposit of Rs 25,000 in bank accounts of all BPL women.

Former Mayor Errabelli Swarna, city Congress leaders Rajanala Srihari and K Srinivasa Rao, senior leaders GV Ramana Reddy, G Jyothi, G Vijayarama Rao, DCC Bank chairman J Raghava Reddy, PCC secretary EV Srinivas Rao and others were present.

Earlier, the TPCC chief inaugurated a photo gallery of former PM late Indira Gandhi at Public Gardens in Hanamkonda, marking Indira’s birth centenary celebrations.
