​Mahbubnagar: As part of the 28th National Road Safety programme, the Jadcherla police held an awareness programme at Kaverammapeta village on the National Highway 44 and stressed that the two wheeler riders must wear helmets and car drivers must wear seatbelts without failx.

“Head is the major part of the body which should be protected the most. During accidents one must make sure we protect our head and helmet is the most important.

For prompting this message to all the rural people surrounding villages, we have selected 10 youths from 10 villages and formed a team of 100 volunteers where in these youth volunteers will further create awareness to other people and spread the importance of wearing helmets,” said Bhaskar, DSP, Mahbubnagar while flagging off a bike rally at IB on NH44 on Friday.

The police also stopped all the bikers without helmet and asked them to either buy the helmet or pay a fine of Rs 1000. Fearing the fine most of the bike riders bought the helmets.
