Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday instructed officials to establish a Brahmin Society for the welfare of poor in the community.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting on the action to be taken for the programmes aimed at Brahmin welfare at Pragathi Bhavan here.

Already the State government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore towards Brahmin welfare fund and land has been allotted for the construction of the proposed Brahmin Sadan.

A society should be formed so that it can utilise the funds and the Sadan for the welfare and other dharmic activities of Brahmins. Action should be taken to register the society and hand over the responsibilities to it, he told the officials.

KCR said the Sadan would provide facilities like accommodation and food for Brahmins coming from outside.

Religious rituals and ceremonies could be held in the Sadan, which would also have a library with spiritual books and an information centre, he added.
