Hyderabad: Minister for Irrigation and Marketing T Harish Rao on Friday slammed Communist Party of India-Marxist secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, accusing him of “working against the interests of Telangana”. Harish Rao told reporters here that the CPM, having opposed statehood for Telangana, was now creating obstacles to halt the State’s progress. The CPM leader had been hurting the State’s interests, the minister said.

Taking pot shots at CPM leaders, the minister said that CPM’s Sunnam Rajaiah was staging a one-man show in the Assembly, while his party colleague, Veerabhadram, was doing the same in the name of Mahajana Padayatra. He warned the CPM leaders to mend their ways and stop criticising every developmental work undertaken by the State government. If the party continued to oppose the State’s development, people would teach them a fitting lesson, the TRS leader remarked.

Harish claimed that the recent Telangana winter session could serve as a model for the country, considering the meaningful debate that took place on key issues. Over 18 days of business, the session saw discussions on 15 issues and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao could give detailed replies to all the queries raised by the members.
