New Delhi: Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu assured Telangana Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Jogu Ramanna here on Tuesday that his department had plans to take up the Armoor-Adilabad via Nirmal railway line at the earliest.

Talking to media persons after meeting the Union Minister, Indrakaran Reddy and Jogu Ramanna said that the new line was proposed the Centre recently by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and it got a favourable response.

The Union and the State governments could take up the project as a joint venture project under the PPP (public-private partnership) mode. The-145 km route would cost Rs 1,200 crore in all, the Union Minister suggested.

Suresh Prabhu assured the TS Ministers that if a separate budgetary allocation was not made in the next budget, then he would involve the Railway Board to get the work done. He also informed them that the Chief Minister had agreed to bear 50 per cent of the cost.
