Hyderabad: Congress on Tuesday termed the State government’s idea of tweaking the budgetary heads as another attempt to trick people in believing that the government was coming up with huge budget for new financial year.

Congress leader and MLA D K Aruna, who took part in the ‘estimates committee’ meeting, said that the changes being made by the government would not help people in a special way, but on the contrary would only help government to show itself in good light.

She alleged that the government was attempting to portray that an increased budget would fulfil all the requirements and cover all the schemes. “This time attempt is being made by the government to grab people’s attention by showing Rs 1.6 - 1.7 lakh crore,” she said.

The former minister said that the revised budget and actual expenditure for last three years remains way below the budget estimates. She pointed out that most of the schemes for weaker sections including SC, ST and Minorities were not grounded.

“The beneficiaries who were selected for bank linked subsidy loans are yet to receive the amount. The government is yet to clear the loans for 2015-16 and also 2014-15. While only 25 per cent of the actual budget to Minorities is being spent each year. This is nothing but jugglery of figures,” she lamented.
