The Government of Telangana on Tuesday received three awards in two categories for effectively implementing the Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission during the year 2014-15. 

Delhi: The Government of Telangana on Tuesday received three awards in two categories for effectively implementing the Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission during the year 2014-15.

The State occupied second position in the country with regard to implementation of the mission. On behalf of the State government, additional chief secretary Ajay Mishra and other officials received the awards.

Under the mission, the State has set up 676 solar energy panels in Ranga Reddy district and 355 in Medak. Telangana is promoting solar energy in the State by giving subsidy to solar power producers.

Non-Conventional Energy Sources Development Corporation managing director Sudhakar Rao said that the State, under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, had been producing record level solar power in the State.

He congratulated the district collector on enable the State to get the coveted award in the category of districts.
