Hyderabad: On the Republic Day, Cyberabad Police will march to the tune of a special band comprising of girls. The all-girls band belongs to Telangana State Social Welfare Residential School for Girls located at Narsingi.

This was necessitated since the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate has no band of its own after the commissionerate was bifurcated, all the personnel of the band opted for Rachakonda. Cyberabad police tried hard to get a band from any other police unit in the State but to no use.

It was then that the Cyberabad police approached R S Praveen Kumar, Secretary of the Telangana State Social Welfare Residential and Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) for help. He directed the officials concerned to provide the band from Narsingi social welfare school.

The students from Narsingi residential school came to Cyberabad and were instructed about the parade and the tunes to be played. The students displaying poise, confidence and courage passed the exam with flying colours. All the policemen marched on their beats, a release issued by the police said.

Usually it takes three to four rehearsals but the young girls were successful on the first go. All officers were awe struck with the competence of the students. Cyberabad police will utilise their services for some more time till they have their own band in place, the release said.
