Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday urged the Tokyo Clean Authority to provide technical support in maintaining cleanliness and in solid waste management in Hyderabad.

The Minister who participated in different programmes in Tokyo studied the cleanliness and basic facilities that were being provided in Tokyo and was impressed by the fact that apart from the government authorities, the citizens too were actively taking responsibility to maintain cleanliness in the city. He said someday cities like Hyderabad would also become like Tokyo.

The Minister enquired about the modern technology with which the government was providing different facilities to the people living in a big city like Tokyo. The Minister examined solid waste management in the city and also interacted with the officials of Tokyo Clean Authority. Rama Rao visited the solid waste management plant which can recycle about 600 tonnes of waste.

Rama Rao also visited India International School in Tokyo and interacted with the students, who were involved in rehearsals for the Republic Day celebrations. The Minister later had a photo session with the students, who sang national anthem in the school.

The Minister later met the CEO of Soft Bank Masayoshi Son and informed about various programmes in software and digital sectors in Telangana. They discussed about alternative fuels, startups and innovation sectors.

The Soft Bank CEO was impressed with the T-Hub initiative of the government and also enquired about the situation after demonetisation. The Minister urged the CEO to partner in the T-Innovation Fund.

He said the government was encouraging digital transactions and the State was first in the country in terms of digital payments. The Minister invited Soft Bank CEO to attend the Invest Telangana conference, which would be organised during November this year.
