The annual Urs celebrations of Janpahad Dargah of Palakeedu mandal in Suryapet district started with religious fervour on Thursday.  

Janpahad: The annual Urs celebrations of Janpahad Dargah of Palakeedu mandal in Suryapet district started with religious fervour on Thursday.

On Thursday morning, rose water and flowers were brought from Dargah Muthawali Mohinuddin to Janpahad Dargah. The Dargah was cleaned with rose water and decorated with flowers.

Later, Mohinuddin performed special prayers. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy offered special prayers at Dargah on Thursday.

In-charge Dastagiri welcomed Uttam to Dargah. In the evening, a Qawwali programme was conducted by the fakirs at the Dargah.

The main event of the Urs, the sandal procession would be conducted on second day of the three-day fest, ie Friday. Minister for Power G Jagadish Reddy and Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy would participate in the sandal procession.

More than one lakh devotees are expected to participate in the sandal procession, which would begin from Mohinuddin’s residence to Dargah.

During the last year Urs, the devotees lost the chance of having holy bath in Safai Bhavi as it was dried up. Whereas, this time, with plenty of water available, devotees can take the holy dip.

Meanwhile, the district police made elaborate security arrangements at the Dargah. The RTC also arranged special buses to Janpahad from Miryalaguda and Suryapet for the comfort of the devotees.
