Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president K Laxman on Thursday called upon the party cadre to campaign against the proposed 12 per cent reservations for Muslims.

The BJP president, who unfurled the national flag on the occasion of 68th Republic Day celebrations at the party headquarters, said the Chief Minister was not honouring the Indian Constitution which prohibited reservations on the basis of religion.

He said Ambedkar, with a clear vision, had brought reservations for socially and economically backward classes like SCs and STs, but the State government with evil intensions had proposed the reservation based on religion.

He alleged that the government, which failed to implement the pre-poll promises, was diverting the minds of the people by coming up with such proposals.

BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy, N Ramchander Rao, N Indrasena Reddy, T Raja Singh, P Chandrashekar Rao and others were present.
