Hyderabad: Telangana BJP on Friday took strong exception to an IAS officer offering to touch Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s feet in his Republic Day speech and said that it was an insult to Indian Administrative Service and inappropriate for a Central Services Civil servant.

In a statement, the TBJP official spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said that Sarath's statement lowered the respect and honor of the entire IAS cadre. His statement showcases the level to which an administrative officer can stoop to be in the good books of those in power.

This unwarranted benevolence and cronyism will not only bring disrepute to the Indian Administrative Service but also further weaken the already
stifled independent powers of the bureaucracy, for delivering larger good to the poor and needy, said Rao.

He said that BJP wants IAS officers of the State to perform their assigned roles with sincerity and integrity to serve the common people through their honorable designation as Civil Servants.
