New Delhi: K T Rama Rao, IT and Industries Minister of Telangana, here on Friday met the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley late in the evening to seek budgetary support to Telangana State. Accompanied by TRS MP B Vinod Kumar and Resident Commissioner of Telangana Bhavan Arvind Kumar, KTR requested the Union Minster to extend all help to the youngest State of India.

The State Government had earlier sought AIIMS, a mega power-loom cluster for Sircilla and Central funds for completion of several programmes and projects. The Chief Minister  too had written several letters to the Centre in this regard. Telangana government was happy at the cooper­ation being extended by the Ce­­­­ n­tre to the State and hoped that the same would continue in the future also to place the State high on the pedestal of development.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, KTR said Arun Jaitley was quite enthusiastic about the progress of Telangana under the new dispensation. Jaitley promised to aid the State with necessa­ry funds wherever and whenever necessary while congr­a­tu­lating the Government on its excellent GDP growth rate.

Telangana was also ahead of many States in digital economy segment and had overcome several obstacles despite the initial phase of hardships of demonetisation, he said. KTR also briefed the Union Minister about his recent visits to Japan and Korea to seek industrial investments. A delegation led by KTR met top leaders of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at Tokyo.

Hidetoshi Irigaki, Senior Vice President; Kyosuke Inada and Senior Director, Southeast Asia of JICA were among those with whom KTR discussed priority sectors like Urban Infrastructure, Forestry, Water & Sanitation, and Industrial Development.

During his Korea visit KTR offered several incentives to the investors. He explained the potential for investments in electronic manufacturing, textiles, life sciences, auto industry and heavy machinery etc.

He explained to the Finance Minister that he got a positive feedback from the tours and was sure that Telangana would make a far greater contribution to the development plans of the country. Arun Jaitley was said to be happy over it and patted the State government for its relentless developmental crusade.
