Hanamkonda: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari has promised steps in ensuring five per cent reservation quota to sports persons in jobs and education.

The Dy CM said he would speak to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and a decision would be taken soon as per the directions issued by the Union government allotting reservation quota to sportspersons.

Srihari on Saturday inaugurated 62nd Telangana Senior Inter District Ball Badminton Championship-2017 at JNS Grounds in Hanamkonda. Addressing the gathering he said a coach would be appointed to train the ball badminton players in Warangal.

Similarly flood lighting would be provided at the grounds with an expenditure of Rs 6 lakh enabling the players to practice during night time. Warangal has been known for ball badminton talent and nearly 130 players from the district have excelled in the sport at different levels, he pointed out.

Warangal ZP chairperson G Padma addressing the players asked them to draw inspiration from players like P V Sindhu and excel at national and international levels. MLA D Vinay Bhasker hoped that Warangal would become a hub for sporting activity, besides being an educational hub now.

Wardhannapet MLA Aroori Ramesh, State Ball Badminton Federation secretary Sampath Reddy, its district secretary Saraiah and others were present.
