Speaking to the media after inaugurating the renovated building of Central Crime Station (CCS) of the city police, the DGP said that road safety has become a matter of serious concern because India is losing 1.5 lakh precious human lives every year due to accidents.

We are losing 7,000 precious human lives every year in Telangana alone. Statistics show that 20 persons die in 60 road accidents in Telangana State every day he said adding that pedestrians and two wheelers account for 50 per cent of the total deaths.

“It has also been found that 50 per cent of the total deaths are in the age group of 18 to 35 years. Therefore, I appeal to all the road users in the State to follow traffic rules by taking all precautions. Let us demonstrate our commitment towards safe and secure Telangana State,” Anurag Sharma said.

He also requested the people to make ‘accident free day’ a success by extending full cooperation to the police.
