​Hyderabad: State government has initiated several measures to revive Telangana culture.Speaking to media persons, Minister for Tourism and Culture A Chandulal on Monday said steps were underway to revive the dance forms of Kakatiya regime, in the name of 'Kakatiyam,' so that the future generations could also learn them.

Kakatiyam is a dance form composed after comparing the contents and poses mentioned in 'Nritya Ratnavali' written by Jayapa Senani 1,400 years ago and the dance poses depicted on temples in Telangana, the Minister said, adding that 'Kakatiyam' dance form would be presented by Padmaja Reddy at Shilpa Kala Vedika on February 5.

He also said measures were underway to protect the identity of Telangana culture and the government was committed to restore the cultural richness. The 'Perini' dance form, which has lost its sheen, has been introduced in the curriculum in all the government-run dance institutes in the State, he said.
