Medak: Speaking at the inauguration of a safe drinking water station at Medak Government Hospital on Tuesday, District Collector Bharati Hollikeri said 40 per cent of diseases affecting people were mainly because of poor hygiene maintained by the people.

Stressing on the urgent need to prevent wasting of water, she said countries were waging wars for water and that people would start fighting for water if ‘every drop of precious water’ wasn’t used conservatively.

“We need to give our future generations a world with sustainable development and saving water is each and every person’s responsibility,” she said.

Ravindra Sewak, Director, Safe Water Network, told The Hans India that the technology used by them treated water in six different stages to ensure removal of contaminants, odour, colour, pesticides, fluoride, nitrates and salinity, in addition to performing ground water testing and pump-out testing to ensure enough water is maintained in the plant to provide 2000 litres of water every hour.
