Coast Guard clean-up op at Chennai beach
Chennai: With the active assistance of personnel from Pollution Control Board and other NGOs, the Coast Guard personnel continued their clean-up efforts of oil spill on the entire stretch of Ennore Beach to Elliot Beach in Chennai.

After assessing impact of oil spill due to the collusion between MT Dawn Kanchipuram and MT BW Maple on January 28, the entire stretch has been divided into 04 zones.

Indian Coast Guard continued deployment of its ships and aircraft to coordinate the oil spill response from sea and at shoreline areas.

It is estimated that more than 20 tonnes of oil has been spilled from MT Dawn Kanchipuram as against the initial report of 2 to 3 tonnes.
