Siddipet: Vakati Karuna, Commissioner, State Health and Family Welfare and Director, National Health Mission, said that it was brought to her notice that many pregnant women going for institutional deliveries in government hospitals were not provided monetary benefits, transportation expenses and nutritious food assured to them under Janani Suraksha Yojana and Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana.

As part of the team of National health Mission doctors’ visit and review with medical and health officials in Siddipet on Tuesday, she asked the health officials to provide all the benefits they were entitled to pregnant women. She ordered the officials to ensure all the Primary Health Centres in the districts get all the facilities needed by patients.

She asked the medical and health officials to increase the number of institutional deliveries in government hospitals and also to achieve 100 per cent immunization of babies.

Resting that responsibility on ANMs, she said that tracking of pregnant women and their deliveries could be documented and tracked with the help of laptops to be provided soon to ANMs.

She also asked the officials to maintain computerized records of medicines supplied to hospitals through ‘e-aushadi’ programme and medicines given to patients every day.

In an incident, she also ordered the officials to issue a charge memo against a pharmacist who was giving medicines to patients without doctor’s prescription in Narayanpet PHC.
