Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma on Wednesday held a review meeting to discuss the construction of roads linking remote villages in four districts with the State and National Highways.

Officials from the intelligence wing, Inspector General, Deputy Inspectors General, Superintendents of Police, senior officials of the Roads and Buildings, Revenue and other departments concerned from the four districts of Bhupalpally, Kothagudem, Khammam and Asifabad attended the meeting.

Sources said the meeting was held to discuss laying of roads to link remote villages on either side of Godavari and Pranahita in the four districts since the State government has taken up irrigation projects on the two rivers. Building of internal roads has assumed significance in the backdrop of these areas being hotbeds for Maoists.
