New Delhi: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, here on Wednesday, urged the Telangana and Maharashtra governments to resolve differences over the proposed Kaleswaram Project.

Releasing the book written by Sriram Vedire, Adviser to the Water Resources Ministry, titled Öptimal Utilisation of Godavari Water - National & Telangana Perspectives', the Minister said that there were apprehensions among Maharashtrians regarding the submergence and these issues could be resolved amicably through talks and the project could be completed.

He suggested the governments to maximise the utilisation of river water to alleviate poverty instead of allowing the same to flow into the sea.

Sriram Vedire in his book suggested the utilisation of assured water as per the tribunal awards through contour canals. Preferring lifting water as and where necessary and considering whole basin as a unit of planning for water management.

It also discusses storage and distribution of water to cover the entire Telangana. Union Minister, Uma Bharati and B Dattatreya graced the occasion.
