Mahbubnagar: People belonging to 25 nomadic tribes (Budabukkala community) have been making several rounds to the government offices for the past five years seeking issue of caste certificate to them.

The officials are tearing their hair out unable to identify how to help these communities. Certificates are still eluding these communities.

About 25 families of the community are living in Mahendranagar colony in Nagarkurnool for the past 30 years. For generations, they eke out a living rendering Burrakathas and dish out parrot astrology.

They go from place to place carrying out their business. They are also known for stitching quilts.

They got their children educated. To enable them to pursue higher studies, caste certificates are required. These certificates are needed for them to derive benefit under various scholarships for the poor.

The officials seek evidence to give them the caste certificate. But the nomadic tribe has no evidence to show about their community.

According to Ramulu and Gopal of the tribe, they are seeking the caste certificate for the benefit of their children.

A student from the nomadic tribe Balaraju said he could not pursue graduation for want of caste certificate.

Another member U Bhaskar said he has a voter card, Aadhaar card, ration card, but no caste certificate. He said he could not derive benefit under Kalyanalakshmi scheme for want of the caste certificate.

Atchampet Tahsildar Pandu Naik said the matter came to his notice only now. He assured them to take steps to issue caste certificates to them shortly.

The problem was not limited to just 25 families. There were 30 such families in Chelimela villge of Pebberu mandal and 70 in Mahbubnagar.

Quoting instances of inclusion of the community under the BC-B at other places, the tribe members are questioning the rationale behind the delay in issuing them caste certificates.
