Hyderabad: The department of culture on Friday held a brainstorming session to discuss the various measures needed for the promotion of Telugu language after it achieved the Classical language status.

Hyderabad: The department of culture on Friday held a brainstorming session to discuss the various measures needed for the promotion of Telugu language after it achieved the Classical language status.

It was decided to send two representatives of the State to Mysore to discuss about the funds for the promotion of Telugu language with the officials of Central Institute of Indian Languages.

According to B Venkatesam, Secretary, Department of Culture, Director M Harikrishna and Vice-Chancellor of Telugu University S V Satyanarayana would be the representatives.

It was also decided that every month meetings will held on the issues faced by the language in the offices of the organisations working for the promotion of Telugu. The next meeting would be held in the Telugu University.

The Secretary to Culture department directed the officials to establish Telugu forums (Peethams) in Benaras University of Kolkata and in Shanti Niketan. Similar forums would be set up in Mysore and Hampi.

It has been decided that an agreement with the Karnataka government would be signed to establish Kannada language forums in Telangana.

A meeting would be held with the editors of dailies and TV channels on the promotion of Telugu language on the occasion of Mother Tongue Day on 21st February.

A team of representatives of Tourism and Culture will visit Delhi to discuss other issues about Classical Language status to Telugu.
