​Hyderabad: Setting a deadline to make Municipal corporations to be open defecation free by Ugadi festival, Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today directed Commissioners concerned to focus on providing basic amenities.

At a high level review meeting the Chief Minister expressed that priority to civic amenities such as roads, markets, toilets, parks, bus bays and bus shelters should be given. “Some special funds will be allotted in the budget for the purpose and priority should be given to roads, toilets, power and other amenities based on population,” he said.

According to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s vision the officials should implement a long term plan to see that the corporations and municipalities get better amenities. The Chief Minister felt that work should be done on mission mode to ensure that towns get adequate toilets for people, besides community toilets and set up sign boards showing way for the same to avoid open defecation, construct model markets for vegetarian and non vegetarian and mechanized Kabelas.

Public cemeteries should be made available in towns on the lines of Mahaprasthanam in Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister also suggested to improve power supply by using LED bulbs and Cases be filed against those involved in putting up flexies and wall writings, he warned of stringent action against the commissioners if contract and outsourcing employees work with Mayors, Cooperators and officials.
