Mahbubnagar: The Village Book Keepers (VBK) in Mahbubnagar district have been asked to go cashless. Joint Collector K Shiva Kumar Naidu has asked all the VBKs to carry out all their transactions at the village level using technology.

“Cashless transactions have become more convenient now. Anyone can do transactions using a laptop, computer, mobile phone or biometric machines.

Particularly the VBKs in the village must take a lead in this direction,” said the JC while addressing a meeting of 50 VBKs at the revenue meeting hall in the district on Wednesday.

The JC said that for conducting account to account transactions, the VBKs can earn a commission of Rs 5 per transaction. By doing so, the VBKs can earn Rs 2000 per month which will automatically be deposited into their accounts.

“What we want is to promote cashless transactions at the grass root level. We want to create more awareness about cashless transactions among the common public and we want to implement it at the government offices,” said the JC.
Giving more information about the benefits the VBKs can avail by promoting cashless transactions, JC said that under the PMMY (Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana), the VBKs can also avail a loan of Rs 50,000, if in case they want to buy computers, laptops, scanners and printers for their personal use, they can later repay the same through monthly installments.

“VBKs can avail loan facility under Shishu, Krishore and Karuna schemes. For promoting account to account, and card to card cashless transactions, the government is ready to support in all aspects,” observed the JC.

When asked about the problems arising due biometric devices not functioning and scanners not recognising thumb impressions in the rural areas, the JC said that there are alternative services available.

If the thumb impression is not accepted by the machines then one can always opt for ‘iris’ recognition mode. Even using this we can carry out the cashless transactions,” said Shiva Kumar Naidu.
