Hyderabad: GHMC Additional Commissioner and Returning Officer Adwait Kumar Singh on Wednesday held a review meeting with all the representatives of the recognised political parties to discuss the Model Code of Conduct for the Biennial Elections to the Telangana State Legislative Council from Mahbubnagar - Ranga Reddy – Hyderabad districts.

The representatives of all political parties were briefed on the guidelines of Model Code of Conduct and were asked to cooperate in ensuring peaceful conduct of the elections.

All the representatives of the recognised political parties were informed that the Election Commission of India had issued the election schedule on February 6 for the conduct of Biennial Elections to the MLC seat.

As per the schedule, the notifications for election were issued on February 13 and the last date of filing nominations will be February 20. The polling will be on March 9 and counting of votes will take place on March 15.

The Model Code of Conduct came into force on February 6 and will end on March 18 after conclusion of the election process.

The ECI has constituted a Standing Committee at the District Level with members of the political parties for effective implementation of Model Code of Conduct.

The District Election Officer & Commissioner of GHMC is the Chairman, the Addl. Superintendent of Police (Vigilance), GHMC & Nodal Officer for MCC is the Convener and all the Recognised and Registered Political parties are the members of the Standing Committee.
