A HP gas customer booked for a gas refill through gas booking mobile number 9666023456 on January 26 with Samata Siva Sakti Enterprises of Kothapet, Dilsukhnagar.
He received an SMS on January 27 stating that his booking is registered with the HP gas booking number 535118 and the cash memo No 198334 with the gas cylinder price Rs 668.50.
The consumer who was ready with the cash was surprised to receive another SMS on January 31 which stated that his gas booking was cancelled.
On February 2, the gas boy delivered the gas cylinder at his residence and collected Rs 738 for the refill.
The consumer was at a loss to understand what exactly happened to his gas booking order and why it was cancelled and how the gas company sent the gas refill even without booking for another refill.
There was no news in any media about the hike in the price of gas either by the government or the gas companies. Could it be surmised that the gas dealers are minting millions by enhancing the price without the knowledge of the government or the consumers?
How could the gas dealer increase the price by Rs 70 after generating the cash memo? The price of the refill was stated as Rs 668.50 on January 27 and it was escalated to Rs 738 by February 2.
When contacted, the manager of the gas company Prabhakar told The Hans India that the gas price depends on the international crude price fixed on the first of every month and the government would inform the same to the consumers.
The additional charge would be passed on to the consumers by the government and those who do not enjoy the subsidy would have to bear the additional charge. People who booked for the refill at the end of the month have to bear this additional charge.
However, when asked why the generated cash memo was withdrawn and the booked gas cylinder was cancelled, he said that there not are enough number of gas cylinders at that time and that was the reason why the booked cylinder was cancelled.
The million dollar question is how a was cylinder booked and a cash memo was generated when there were no cylinders in the first place.
