Hyderabad: As the film industry had shifted from Chennai to Hyderabad, the then government of undivided Andhra Pradesh decided to allot land for Filmnagar Cooperative Housing Society for construction of studios, recording theatres, dubbing theatres, laboratories, editing units, outdoor equipment units, film institute and other allied units connected with development of the industry.
But the society allegedly deviated from several deviations from the by-laws. Many of the original allottees allegedly sold away their plots to outsiders.
According to a report submitted by Dr N Kiranmayee, Additional Registrar in 2012, J Madhava Rao, who claimed to be a makeup man in certificates enclosed as proof, sold the plot to Ram Mohan who is son of actor Murali Mohan. Mother of Ram Mohan, Vijaya Laxmi, was the nominee.
Jayabheri Art Production managing partner issued a certificate in January 1995 that Ram Mohan was a partner of their firm. But the signature in the application did not tally with other signature on other documents.
He was also not married at that time and had given the address of his father A-14 in Filmnagar. Hence, the Additional Registrar came to the conclusion that Ram Mohan was a benami member who purchased plot from Madhava Rao.
Surprisingly, there were two letters addressed to the society. One by Ram Mohan and another by Roopa Adusumalli who jointly stated that they were constructing a house in plot no 16 and 17.
Roopa had purchased the plot from actor J V Ramana Murthy. Roopa applied for membership of society claiming that she was a cine-technician. But the sale deed mentions her as a student.
The report said that all this was done to get adjacent plots allotted to them and construct single house since Ram Mohan is the son of Murali Mohan and Roopa is the daughter in law.
L V Prasad was allotted plot no A-29 in 1982. Later, he died in 1994. A Ramesh, son of LV Prasad, is recognised as the legal heir of the deceased member.
But it has been observed that the signature on the application for membership does not tally with the signature on affidavit. This implies that the application was filed by somebody else.
In another incident, K V Chandrakanth (application MS No 492) had mentioned that he was Assistant Director and obtained certificates from three firms. He was allotted plot No 20. He got the sale deed registered in March 1992.
While the sale deed mention him as a doctor. Immediately after the registration was done, he sold the plot to Rajitha Reddy. (As per rules, he cannot sell within two years from date of allotment.)
