​Hyderabad: City Police will host an awareness run at Necklace Road on March 5 as part of an awareness campaign for a crime free Hyderabad.

The run will be conducted in two categories, 5 Km and 2 Km and also Pram Walk with an expected footfall of 7000 will be conducted.

A Women’s Expo with over 50 stalls as part of the campaign will be inaugurated on March 4. Multiple competitions will be organised in categories like short films, photography, painting and poetry relating to women’s safety, cyber crime and child abuse issues.

City Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy said on Friday after launching a poster for the campaign.
The campaign has been conceived to raise awareness among girls, women on the responsible usage of Digital Technologies and participation in online community activities.

There is also a need to create awareness among children as well as adults regarding child sexual abuse and this campaign will also help in this regard, he said.

Those who are interested to take part in the awareness run can register their names at www.sheforchange.com.

The registration is free and all participants will be given a specially designed medal along with breakfast and a goody bag, Mahendar Reddy said.

People interested to take part in competitions may submit their entries directly at Bharosa Centre, Ground Floor, HACA Bhavan, Saifabad, Hyderabad. The winning entries will be awarded on March 5.

The Last date for submission of entries is February 28. Earlier in the day, South Zone Police organised a 5K run from Charminar to Barkas to create awareness among the citizens for a crime free Hyderabad.

Deputy Chief Minister, Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Home Minister, Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Olympic medallist P V Sindhu, City Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy flagged off the 5K run from Charminar.
