​Mahabubnagar: The construction of Yenugonda-Palamuru University bypass road is set to begin as the District collector Ronald Rose has approved the project and directed the officials of Survey and Roads and Buildings department to acquire land and to complete the survey related work in a weeks' time.

The 9.05 kilometre 4 line bypass road is expected to be constructed with a width of 200 feet connecting the Jadcherla-Mahabubngaar road at Yenugonda near SVS Medical College, via, Bhootpur-Mahabubnagar and finally connecting the Raichur-Mahabubnagar Road at Palamuru University.

Once the road comes into being, the traffic problems in the core Mahabubnagar city are said to reduce drastically with the travel time from Yenugonda reducing to 15 minutes.

Of the sanctioned Rs 96.70 crore for the bypass road, the government is expected to Spend Rs 40.93 crore on land acquisition, Rs 30 lakh for replacing electoral poles, Rs 10 lakh for plantation of trees in between the road divider, Rs 5 lakh for replacing telephone lines, and Rs 15 lakh for replacing water pipelines.

The government has already spent Rs 68 lakh for Road structure works, Rs 48.50 lakh for road parting works and Rs 60 lakh for road widening. “We are not having the dearth of funds but we need to complete the works with a detailed planning.

We asked the officials to prepare a detailed master plan and asked them to utilize cutting edge technology to ensure a better quality of the road,” informed the collector.
