Hyderabad: A day ahead of the proposed rally of the unemployed youth, police officials met TJAC leaders and suggested alternate venues, such as NS convention ground at Shamshabad, Metro Rail ground at Nagole, other areas at Cheryal village, Gandipet, Miyapur and Abdullapurmet claiming that no rallies are permitted in areas near the Assembly.

TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram expressed confidence that the JAC would get permission to hold the rally and meeting. The rally would be taken out at 10 am on February 22 from Sundarayya Vignana Kendram and later a meeting would be organised at Indira Park. The TJAC also approached the High Court. The court decision is expected on Tuesday.

TJAC decided to organise unemployed youth rally on Wednesday in protest against unfilled government posts. Addressing a press conference here at the JAC office after the steering committee meeting, Kodandaram said that there was no need for any doubt on the rally. “The JAC has ability to take up the rally in a peaceful manner. There were many rallies of the JAC during the Telangana agitation and when there were no doubts during that time there is no need of any doubt now,” said Kodandaram.

He cautioned the unemployed youth to be peaceful stating that allegations were made from the government side that there would be violence. If the rally is peaceful then there would be scope for getting a positive result to their problems, he told the unemployed coming to the rally adding that 30 organisations have pledged their support to the rally. He expressed confidence that the JAC would get permission to hold the rally and meeting.

Replying to a question, Kodandaram said that the JAC has not decided nor it discussed on forming a political party. “We have not even thought in that direction. Even then if people think in that manner we can’t do anything,” said Kodandaram. Kodandaram said that 15 sub-committees have been formed to oversee the arrangements for the meeting at Indira Park.
