Country’s leading brand forays into south India

Hyderabad: Monginis Food Pvt Ltd (MFPL), a popular bakery from Mumbai and India’s oldest bakery brand with presence in twenty three states, announced its foray into Telangana by setting up its bakery factory in the city. The modern bakery spreads over 34,000 sqft area, has been set up at Bollarum.

The company is expanding its cake shop franchisee model. It plans to open 100 cakes shops in Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, etc.

Kumhail Khorakiwala said: “We’re delighted with our entry into one of the most potential bakery markets, which is the seventh largest bakery market in India, as we continue our expansion strategy.

We have some aggressive plans for this market and are extremely confident of the fillip it can give to our South push, Hyderabad and Telangana are gateway to our South endeavour.”

He further adds: “In addition to the 16 factories, we will be opening two more at Patna and Delhi in April, earlier this year we had opened two more factories at Bhubaneshwar and Raipur. The investment on each factory would be around Rs 25 crores.

We meet most of our investment requirements from internal accruals. The Company's turnover is around Rs 700 crore. We have operations in Egypt too. 60 percent of our production is perishable and the balance 40 percent is long shelf life products.

The size of the bakery industry in the organised sector is around Rs 5,000 crores in India. Most of our franchise are long lasting, in Mumbai the average longevity is 20 years for our franchise. We intend to expand our operation to Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in South, from Hyderabad.”

Monginis will bring all its distinct melt-in-the-mouth flavours of cakes, pastries, puffs, burgers, pizzas, breads, chocolates, cookies etc, to Hyderabad and Telangana. The company has aggressive plans to spread its foot print across the state through more than 100 franchisee shops in next five years.
