Mahbubnagar: The rift between District Collector Ronald Ross and local legislator Srinivas Goud has widened on the issue of pulling down unauthorised constructions in the town.

The town civic staff recently pulled down unauthorised constructions in the town, which includes a hotel belonging to a Congress leader resulting in the leader accusing the civic staff of being partials towards constructions of the ruling TRS leaders in the town.

The District Collector breathed fire on Devi Singh Naik, municipal commissioner, for being lenient towards the TRS leaders. In fact, there are 50 unauthorised constructions in the town, a majority of them belong to the TRS leaders.

The MLA apparently spoke to the municipal commissioner and the district collector over telephone to persuade them against pulling down the building belonging to his principal aide. But, the district collector reportedly stood his ground. This has sparked a row between the two.

Close on the heels of the controversy, an NREGS field assistant Ramachandraiah allegedly committed suicide. TRS leaders and Ramachandraiah’s family members blamed district authorities for the death.

This incident assumed political overtones with MLA participating in a dharna parading Ramachandraiah’s body in front of the Collectorate for more than six hours.
