DESMI, a Denmark-based company engaged in developing pump solutions for marine and offshore, industry, oil spill equipment, defence and fuel and utility segment, has inaugurated its first production facility in India.
Hyderabad: DESMI, a Denmark-based company engaged in developing pump solutions for marine and offshore, industry, oil spill equipment, defence and fuel and utility segment, has inaugurated its first production facility in India.
Peter Taksøe-Jensen, Danish Ambassador, inaugurated the facility located at Nadergul village, Adibatla, in Telangana State. Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, IT&C, Henrik Sørensen, DESMI Group CEO, Jan Thaarup Chairman DESMI India LLP, and AVS Murthy, Managing Director, DESMI India LLP, and others were present at the launch.
DESMI started its Indian operations with a liaison office in 2013 and with a dedicated team to serve its customer in India. With an objective to strengthen its presence in India, DESMI has decided to set-up an 3,000-sqm advanced production facility at Adibatla.
Henrik Sørensen said: “India is a very interesting and promising market for us. We expect the stable political environment with focus on growing the economy, improving infrastructure, and make in India, to mention some, to give us even more business opportunities in future.”
DESMI’s primary focus would be produce oil spill response equipment and then to assemble the pumps and pumping solutions locally in India. At this facility, the first production of a booms for oil spill response will be made and the expectation is to produce in excess of 20,000 meter of booms per year consisting of both rubber boom as well as PU booms including other equipment for oil spill response equipment.
A V S Murthy adds: “By second quarter of 2017, we will be ready with the assembly center for the production of pumps and pumping solutions for the local market. The objective of setting up facility in Hyderabad is due to the good industrial policy of Telangana.
We’re currently serving lot of pharma companies for various process cooling applications and the company is very keen in working with the Telangana government on the Mission Bhagiratha Water Supply Project, which is a very prestigious project for the newly formed state of Telangana.”
